Even though this cover was produced in 1933, I used this recording in my Jewish American Literature and Culture class this semester, because a character in a 1917 novel we are reading was humming this tune. The lyrics, I discovered by accidentally pursuing recordings of the tune on other you tube videos, are racist, which introduced questions that I wasn't prepared to develop in class discussion on that day.
